Man pleads guilty for assaulting Native American woman on tribal land

A man has pleaded guilty for assaulting a Native American woman on tribal land.

Rumaldo Gamboa, 45, was arrested for assaulting a woman police say was Gamboa’s spouse at the time.

The Department of Justice says the incident occurred in the Pokagon tribal village located just outside of South Bend.

The Pokagon Tribal Police Department collaborated with the FBI on the investigation and the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Luke N. Reilander.
