Two sisters rescued from water at Lake Michigan beach Sunday

Two sisters were rescued after struggling to keep above water at a Lake Michigan beach Sunday.

Police were called to Lions Park Beach on reports of a water rescue just after 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

It was reported that two sisters from Illinois, aged 29 and 32, were swimming at the beach when they got into deep water and struggled to get out. Several bystanders saw the incident and assisted.

The women were transported to a local hospital, where the 29-year-old was treated and released.

The 32-year-old woman was first listed in critical condition, but passed away on Wednesday. She was identified as Danely Lopez.
