LaGrange County man arrested for attacking father with chain saw

A man from LaGrange County was arrested on Thursday, July 30, for attacking his father with a chainsaw.

Police were called around 7:45 p.m. Thursday to the father’s home in the 11600 block of West SR 120 on reports of a battery there.

When police arrived at the home, they found Joseph Daniel Martin, 33, wielding a chainsaw.

According to a police report, Martin’s father, William Martin, told officers that his son attacked him with the chainsaw “for unknown reasons.” The chainsaw was not running during the attack.

William Martin was taken to the hospital for “numerous lacerations to his head, face and hands.”

Joseph Martin was arrested, treated for a cut on his leg, and charged with Domestic Battery Resulting in Moderate Bodily Injury and Aggravated Battery.

He is now in the LaGrange County Jail.
