Search underway for 24-year-old man in waters off New Buffalo

A 24-year-old man is believed to have drowned in Lake Michigan, according to New Buffalo Police.

First responders were called to the beach around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, to search for the man who disappeared near the break wall, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Waves were around 6 feet high at the time and hindered the search effort. Two officers suffered minor injuries during the search..

The missing swimmer, from Villa Ridge, Missouri, was not located, as of late Friday, July 31.
