Niles man, 67, seriously injured in motorcycle/pick up truck collision

A 67-year-old Niles man on a motorcycle was seriously injured after he struck a pick-up truck.

The collision happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, in the area of South 11th Street and Stateline Road in Niles Township.

Berrien County Sheriff’s deputies found that a White Dodge pickup truck driven by a 26-year-old Elkhart man was traveling south bound on 11th Street and attempted a left turn in front of the motorcycle, causing the collision.

The Niles man operating the motorcycle was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with possible life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

The collision remains under investigation by the Berrien County Accident Investigation Team.
