An Elkhart man was arrested after allegedly firing an AR-15 into the ceiling of his apartment.

It happened at Maple Lane Apartments.

Police were called there on the report of gunshots and screaming. They say 20-year-old Leonardo Aguilar appeared to be intoxicated.

The Elkhart Truth reports Aguilar had reportedly shot into the ceiling in another room because he was under the belief that somebody was being attacked.

Officers found three holes in the ceiling.

Aguilar was booked into the Elkhart County Jail on $50,000 bond. There was no report of any injuries.
