Police say they originally tried to pull over 44 year old Cynthia Simpson in Nappanee near the intersection of US 6 and SR 19. She initially stopped for officers, but when the officer got out and told her to run off the car she sped away.

The chase lasted about 30 minutes and crossed into Marshall and Kosciusko Counties. It didn’t end until stop sticks were deployed, forcing her into a field on Douglas Road in Bremen. When she refused to exit the car officers broke a window and pulled her out.

The Elkhart Truth reports her BAC was higher than .15, roughly twice the legal limit, and she had prior OWI convictions from the last 18 months.
