An elderly man in northwestern Indiana is dead after being hit by a golf cart.

Harold Rozinski, 76, died Thursday. He was hit earlier that day by a golf cart at the Course at Aberdeen in Valparaiso.

NBC 5 in Chicago reports the driver of the golf cart saw Rozinski, tried to hit the brakes, and hit the gas instead. Rozinski was knocked down by the golf cart and seriously injured. His death was ruled an accident.

The driver of the golf cart did not show signs of impairment and police do not believe alcohol was involved in Rozinski’s death.
