A 10-year-old girl was arrested after Elkhart Police say she attacked her mother with a knife.

Officers were called to the home on Garfield Avenue, Wednesday, on the report of a runaway child.

When the girl returned home, the child’s mother told police she broke a window and came at her with a steak knife.

The Elkhart Truth reports the mother was injured trying to take the knife away from the girl.
