A Florida man was arrested in LaGrange County, Indiana over the weekend after speeding through the county and biting a police officer trying to detain him.

Just after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 27, somebody reported a “suspicious vehicle” near Shipshewana. According to witnesses, someone was driving a white van through somebody else’s yard with all the doors wide open.

Police eventually found the van heading east on SR 120 and tried to stop it. The driver, Lawrence Horvath-Cambron, 32, stopped the van and got out, but left the van on. The van then continued forward and went off the roadway.

As police tried to arrest Horvath-Cambron, he bit a deputy’s hand before he could be restrained. He was taken to the hospital, where medical professionals said he was experiencing “excited delirium”, a side effect of meth, which he had recently ingested.

He faces charges of battery, resisting arrest and reckless driving.
