A 32-year-old LaPorte man died in a car crash Wednesday.

Matthew Moore’s pickup truck left the roadway and hit a utility pole and a tree, before rolling over and colliding with a fence.

Moore was trapped inside the truck and pronounced dead at the scene, said police, who were called shortly before 3 a.m.

An investigation revealed Moore’s truck was traveling north on Hitchcock Street when it crossed the center line and left the west side of the roadway.

Police were called to the area north of Earl Road. Michigan City police are unsure if alcohol or drugs are involved. The investigation is ongoing.
