Woman found dead Wednesday morning in South Bend identified

An autopsy on a woman’s body that was found in South Bend is set for Friday, Nov. 27.

South Bend Police were notified about the body around 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

The partially clad body was discovered laying in the roadway on Riverside Place near the
intersection with Riverside Drive, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim was identified as Denise Garcia, 31, of South Bend. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is handling the investigation.
