South Bend Police are investigating after an off-duty officer was driving his assigned squad car, with his son in the passenger seat, in the area of West Sample and Grant Streets when his vehicle was struck by a projectile.
The incident happened around 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5.
The officer and his son were not injured, but medics were called to the scene to check them out.
There is damage to the squad car, and it is being processed for further evidence at this time.
