A 57-year-old man from LaPorte faces a felony OWI charge after colliding with another car, sending a passenger in the other car to the hospital with an upper body injury.

The crash happened late last week on State Road 2 at Fail Road.

The other driver, a 56-year-old LaPorte woman, told investigators she was stopped in the westbound lanes at the intersection when her car was hit from behind. A 66-year-old man in her car was injured and taken to the hospital.

The suspect, Kiven Frances, blamed the collision on glare from the sun.

After the investigation at the scene, Frances was taken into custody and placed in the LaPorte County Jail.
