Lawmakers in Michigan canceled this week’s legislative session, due to “credible threats” at the state Capitol.

In a joint statement on Monday, Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and House Speaker Hason Wentworth said they reached the decision after Michigan State Police and the Sergeants-At-Arms of both the House and Senate expressed concern over the threats, centered around the inauguration of President Elect Biden.

No votes had been scheduled on the calendar this week, and out of an abundance of caution lawmakers in Michigan will stand down between January 19 and 21.
