Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is hosting a virtual open house for its Berrien County customers.

It’s for a closer look at the Benton Harbor-Fair Plain Transmission Line Rebuild Project, which aims to help reduce outage duration times and promote economic growth in Berrien County.

The project includes:

  • Upgrading approximately seven miles of 34.5-kilovolt transmission line to 69-kilovolt standards.
  • Rebuilding some sections of the high-voltage transmission line in I&M’s existing right-of-way and re-routing other sections.
  • Upgrading wooden power poles to steel monopoles.

Construction on the year-long project is set to begin in the fall of 2022 and finish in the fall of 2023.

To attend the virtual open house, visit IndianaMichiganPower.com/BentonHarbor. The interactive map will be available until February 26.
