An accused bank robber who police say tried to disguise himself as a woman is being held without bond after missing several court dates.

Tevin Attkisson, 26, was arrested in December 2019 and charged with the 2017 robbery the Key Bank on South Main Street in Elkhart.

A teller told police the robber handed him a note saying he had a gun.

Witnesses described the suspect as wearing a long black wig, hat, gloves, sunglasses and a big red purse.

A similar suspect was later reported trying to enter the Lake City Bank on Nappanee Street, but employees refused to let him in.

They called police and officers and Attkisson walking in the area.

The Elkhart Truth reports Attkisson posted bond last February, was released, then failed to make a series of court appointments.
