Michigan’s Governor is asking the state to observe an anniversary Wednesday night, March 10, with porch lights.

Governor Whitmer and Lt. Governor Gilchrist are marking Wednesday as the one-year anniversary of the first cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in the state.

To honor all of those who have been lost, the governor’s office is asking all Michiganders to turn on the lights outside of their homes between 8 and 9 pm Wednesday night. Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist adds “The simple act of turning on our lights is a way to remember and honor those we have lost and show that we’re all in this together and we will emerge from this crisis, together.”
