854K+ Sentras recalled by Nissan due to brake light issue

In this Feb. 5, 2019, photo, the logo of Nissan Motor Co., is seen at its showroom in Tokyo. Nissan reported on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 20109, a drop in third quarter profit to about a fourth of the previous year’s because of the absence of perks from U.S. tax reforms that lifted profits a year ago. Nissan is recalling more than 854,00 Sentras in the US and Canada because their brake lights might not come on when the brake pedal is pressed.

Certain compact Sentras from the model years 2016 through 2019 are impacted, 807,000 of them in the US.

Silicon contamination can cause a malfunction in the stop lamp switch. There is a chance that engine starting could also be impacted.

Owners will be notified in April and dealers will replace the switch.
