A Laporte County man died after falling into the frigid waters of Trail Creek from the U.S. 12 bridge on Saturday.

August Breitbarth, 32, was pulled from the water and taken to the hospital, where he died.

A witness told police Breitbarth was alone when he leaned over a railing and fell into the water.

After that, the witness and another person threw objects to Breitbarth to pull him ashore.

His death is still under investigation.
