The IRS is warning students and staff at colleges and universities that there is a phishing scam going around.

People are being sent emails that displays the IRS logo and use subject lines like, “Tax Refund Repayment” or “Recalculation of your tax refund payment.”

The email has been asking people to click a link that takes them to a form that will help them claim their refund. The website then asks for people to submit personal information.

The IRS is telling taxpayers that believe they have given personal information out to identity thieves to get an Identity Protection PIN. It’s a six-digit number that helps prevent people from filing fraudulent tax returns.
