A young child has died in Tippecanoe County from coronavirus, according to the Tippecanoe County Health Department.

The health department said the child was under five years old and died while being hospitalized for COVID-19.

The health department says it strongly recommends everyone over the age of two to wear a mask in businesses, indoor public spaces, outdoor spaces where social distancing of at least six feet between people from different households cannot be maintained, and while using public transportation.

The health department is also asking Hoosiers who are 16 years and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
