Elkhart man, 83, killed after three vehicle crash on U.S. 33

An 83-year-old man died after a crash involving two other vehicles.

The collision happened around 1:50 p.m. on Friday, May 7, on U.S. 33 east of County Road 31 when a vehicle driven by Paul Verhof of Elkhart crossed into oncoming traffic.

Verhof’s vehicle struck an S.U.V. which then swerved off the road. The man’s vehicle then struck a second S.U.V.

Verhof was airlifted to Parkview Hospital where he later died due to injuries sustained from the crash.

The drivers and passengers in the S.U.Vs suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Factors into the crash are still being investigated.
