Michigan Republicans, Democrats come together on billions in school aid

The Michigan Senate struck a deal Tuesday to pass $4.4 billion in aid for schools.

In a unanimous vote, the State Senate passed the massive funding for K-12 schools after Republican lawmakers and Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer reached an agreement. This supplemental budget bill spends all but $362 million in unallotted school funding from rescue packages approved in March and December.

The House is expected to send the legislation to Governor Whitmer’s desk today.
