South Bend man, 18, arrested after police chase

A police chase in South Bend led to a teenager landing in jail.

Indiana State Police arrested Javionne Jackson, 18, of South Bend, following the pursuit  that ended in a crash.

The chase began at about 10 p.m. on Monday, June 28, when a state trooper observed a car traveling almost 30 miles per hour over the speed limit and attempted to stop the driver who hit the gas and took off at even higher speeds.

The chase ended in a crash when the suspect driver, Jackson, failed to negotiate a curve and hit a fire hydrant.

State troopers recovered a loaded Glock handgun with a large capacity magazine, and suspected marijuana from the wrecked car.

Jackson was arrested on multiple charges including resisting law enforcement, possession of a handgun without a permit, reckless driving and drug charges.
