Benton Township Police have released more information about the vehicle they say was involved in a deadly hit and run collision.

Michael Swanigan, 54, of Benton Harbor, was on a motorized wheelchair, traveling east on Empire when he was hit by the vehicle, according to investigators.

Police earlier reported the vehicle was believed to have been a Chevy Malibu. Now, they’ve narrowed the description of the car, saying it was a 2008-2012 Chevy Malibu LT or LTZ.

Benton Township Police are also requesting anyone or any collision shops repairing a vehicle with that description to contact the Benton Township Police Department Detective Bureau at (269) 925-1135 or Michiana Crime Stoppers at (574) 288-STOP.
