Plymouth man gets 97-years in prison

A Plymouth man charged with murder, arson, and resisting law enforcement has been sentenced to 97 years in prison.

36-year-old Duane Longacre was sentenced on Wednesday for the murder of Jill McCarty and arson.

It was back in 2019 when prosecutors say Longacre used a machete to kill Jill McCarty. He then dumped her body in a bathtub and set fire at the house before trying to escape.

Officers arrested Longacre as he tried to run away.

Longacre admitted that before McCarty’s death that he was on a 10-day meth binge.
