Police use DNA from beer cans to pinpoint Stueben County murder suspect

Supplied/Steuben County Sheriff
The suspect arrested in connection to the murder of a Lake James woman came from an unlikely lead.
Matthew Roland Hoover of Anderson was charged, last week, for the stabbing death of Wilma Ball, 82.
The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette reports that detectives gathered DNA samples  from two beer cans the 29-year-old left in her home.
Hoover denies ever being in Ball’s home, but while interviewing Hoover, detectives noticed he had scratches on his arms, nearly healed, which they believe may have happened during the events of the crime being committed.
Hoover is being held without bail at the Steuben County Jail.
