South Bend Police are crediting tips from the public for helping identify a suspect who is charged with battery against a public safety official, resisting law enforcement and leaving the scene of an accident. Kevin Reed, Jr. is not in custody, but a warrant has been issued for his arrest. The charges stem from an incident on Sep. 13 where an officer responded to Western Avenue and Olive Street regarding a welfare check.
