MI car dealership bill on governor’s desk

A bill designed to ease some of Michigan’s rules on car dealerships has been sent to the governor’s desk.

The bill by State Senator Kim LaSata of Bainbridge would reduce the number of hours and days per year that Class A and B dealerships would be required to be open.

WSJM reports that LaSata was first informed of the issues some dealerships had with the current rules through a constituent in the 21st Senate District. That person was unable to give his employees paid time off during the Christmas season last year because of current state law.

What logical reason is there for the government to regulate this in the first place? Do they do that with any other retailers?
