The Michiana Walk to End Alzheimer’s reached their 2021 fundraising goal.

More than 200 people participated in the walk on Sep. 19, which took place at Central Park in Mishawaka and also allowed people to participate in their own neighborhoods after watching an online ceremony.

The event raised nearly $43,000 and money continues to come in.

Fundraising efforts will continue through the end of the year.

The organization says more than six million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and it’s a leading cause of death in the U.S.

More than 11 million family members and friends provide care to those dealing with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
