Local towns, cities to benefit from Community Crossroads grants

We’re learning how much money our local communities are getting for road repairs from the Community Crossroads grants.

In St. Joseph County, Mishawaka is getting $975,000, South Bend is getting $523,000, Osceola, $108,000 and Lakeville, $89,000.

In Elkhart County, Nappanee is getting $1 million, Middlebury, $502,000, Wakarusa, $485,000 and Bristol $404,000.

The funds can go towards road and bridge preservation, road construction, intersection improvements, guardrail replacements and signage.

Smaller municipalities need to provide a 25 percent match in local funds, while large communities need to make a 50 percent match.
