The lighting ceremony for Indiana’s tallest outdoor decorated Christmas tree, behind the Inn at St. Mary’s is set for 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7.
Here are some facts about the tree:
- It’s a 70 foot White Pine.
- It’s 60 years old.
- It weighs 11,000 pounds.
- The trunk circumference measures 8 feet.
- The tree is adorned with 10-thousand lights and 675 ornaments.
- The tree was donated by South Bend resident Karla Levy.
The public is invited to attend the lighting ceremony.
The University of Notre Dame’s Chorale will perform.
Santa will also be present for the big celebration. If you miss the celebration, you can stop by to see the tree until Jan. 10.
