A social media threat made on Thursday night forced Edwardsburg Public Schools to close on Friday.

School officials were made aware of the threatening message late Thursday evening after it was forwarded to a district administrator. Police were immediately contacted and made aware of the incident.

However, due to the timing of when the message was posted, officers and school staff were not able to investigate the threat fully before the school day started.

According to ABC-57, the threatening message was a copy of the one from a Lansing school district, only with a further message added.

Officials with Edwardsburg Schools say they will notify students and parents and staff when more information becomes available.
