Sheriff: Woman, toddler son hurt after falling asleep at wheel in Cass County

A 24-year-old Kalamazoo woman and her 3-year-old son are recovering after a crash that happened when the mother fell asleep at the weeel.
That’s according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office which says the collision happened around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, on M-60, west of Corey Lake Road in Newberg Township.
The initial investigation showed the woman was heading west on M-60, when she fell asleep and left the roadway.  The vehicle traveled down the shoulder and struck a culvert which caused it to go airborne and overturn.  The woman and her child were taken to Three Rivers Hospital to be treated for injuries.  The mother was wearing a seat belt and her son was in a child car seat.
The crash remains under investigation.
