Former Goshen Police officer, accused of domestic battery, to spend one year on probation

A former Goshen Police officer accused of domestic battery will spend one year on probation after admitting to lesser charges.

Joshua Owens, 38, entered a plea agreement in Elkhart Superior Court just ahead of his trial that was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 15.

He admitted to a count of misdemeanor strangulation and a count of misdemeanor domestic battery.

Under the plea, Owens will be sentenced to one year in jail for each count.

The Elkhart Truth reports Owens must also undergo anger management and addictions assessments. His sentencing is set for late January.
