The sale of a church in downtown Elkhart means a charity serving people in need also needs to find a new home.

First Congregational Church has been sold and has given the Susanna’s Kitchen 30 days to get out, before the new owners move in.

Susanna’s Kitchen is in the basement of the church on 3rd street and provides lunches for people-in-need. In all, they estimate around 20-thousand meals a day.

The Elkhart Truth reports leaders are struggling to find a facility large enough to move to.

Kitchen leaders tell the Truth they are hopeful someone will offer them a permanent spot in the heart of downtown before they have to leave their current location.
