Woman in Valparaiso arrested after was found driving drunk near school bus

A Valparaiso woman has been arrested, after she was found driving drunk near a school bus.

29-year-old Heather Loop was taken to jail on several counts of driving while intoxicated.

Police say last week, in the middle of the afternoon, Loop was seen driving left of center, in and out of ditches and almost hit several mailboxes near County Road 250 South and Ind. 2.

Three other drivers were able to box Loop in, due to a school bus in the area nearby.

Those same three witnesses were able to take the keys out of Loop’s ignition, at which point she switched over to the passenger seat and fell asleep.

When confronted by police, Loop had slurred speech and was unable to say where she was or where she came from.

A chemical test revealed her blood alcohol concentration was at 0.382, nearly five times the legal limit of 0.08.

She was taken to jail without incident, police said.
