UPDATE: South Bend’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration has been postponed until President’s Day due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. Officials just announced the theme and plans for the daylong activities last week, but after consulting with local health leaders, they decided to reschedule to President’s Day, Feb. 21, instead.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Community Celebration is set for Monday, Jan. 17, at the Century Center in South Bend.
This year marks the 36th such event.
The theme, this year, is “Heal The Dream With Truth, Justice and Love.” The festivities will include workshops, vendors & exhibits, musical presentations and children’s activities.
The keynote speaker for the breakfast will be Karrah A. Herring, who serves as the Chief Equity, Inclusion & Opportunity Officer for Governor Holcomb’s Administration.
Activities are being held throughout the day beginning with the Community Service Breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
Tickets for the breakfast are $25.00.
