Dog dies after being found shot in South Bend

A dog died after it was found, shot, in South Bend.

Police received a ShotSpotter alert, just after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16, in the 500 block of North Johnson Street.

There, they found the animal in the road suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The dog did not have any tags.

There were no people in the area.

The South Bend Animal Resource Center took the dog to an emergency vet in critical condition. the dog’s owner was contacted and made the decision to euthanize the animal, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Police are still investigating the shooting.
