On Feb. 20, 1987, 30-year-old Roxanne Wood was murdered as she returned to her Niles Township home after a night of bowling. Her throat was cut, and she was beaten over the head with a frying pan.

Now, 35 years later, police in Michigan say they’ve found her killer.

At a news conference Friday, police announced that 67-year-old Patrick Gilham of South Bend has been arrested for the crime. Gilham’s home is 10 miles south of Niles, Michigan, where Wood was killed.

Up until this point, Wood’s husband appeared to be the main suspect in the case.

Police provided no explanation as to how they connected Gilham to Wood’s murder. However, they did say that would be revealed through the court process. Police believe Gilham may be connected to other crimes and if anyone has information related to Wood’s murder or another crime, they should contact the Michigan State Police Niles Post at 269-683-4411.
