A new utility station near Walkerton is being proposed for storing energy.

The $150 million project is being considered by the LaPorte County Board of Zoning and Appeals by the company Open Road Renewables and Monroe Power. ABC 57 reports that they’re known for utility-scale solar projects in four other states.

Some residents near the proposed location worry that the site is too close to residential areas and wetlands.
