South Bend teams with La Casa De Amistad to provide new support to refugees and immigrants.

The City of South Bend and La Casa de Amistad announced new support for immigrants in South Bend. The City will provide funds to La Casa to contract interpretation and translation services and to deliver legal and transportation services for immigrants, including the more than 60 recently resettled Afghans in South Bend.

La Casa estimates that this funding could benefit 350 or more individuals in South Bend.

Local lawyers and professionals who would like to volunteer their time or services to help immigrants in South Bend can contact La Casa de Amistad at 574-233-2120.

The City also announced new membership in the Welcoming America network, a coalition of governments and nonprofits working towards creating more welcoming environments for immigration. Learn more about the network at www.welcomingamerica.org.
