The Indiana Department of Environmental Management is awarding $465,000 to 18 applicants through the Community Recycling Grant Program.

The money is designed to create successful, cost-effective programs.

The City of South Bend is one of the many getting the money.

IDEM says applicants have to demonstrate a positive environmental impact within the project service area, an increase in waste diversion as a result of the project and show that the project is sustainable.
