Woman stopped for school bus hospitalized after being hit from behind

A Niles woman was hurt in a rear-end collision on U.S. 12 near Cassopolis Road in Mason Township.

The collision happened around 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The initial investigation shows the 39-year-old woman was stopped on U.S. 12, for the school bus with its flashing red lights on when a 32-year-old South Bend man traveling westbound on U.S. 12 and failed to stop, crashing into the back of the woman’s vehicle.

She was taken by ambulance to Lakeland Niles Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Seat belts were worn in this crash, and alcohol was not a factor.
