Middlebury man, 31, arrested after police chase, crash in Goshen

A police chase in Goshen ended with a crash and an arrest on drug charges. Officers attempted the traffic stop due to a traffic infraction around 10 p.m. on Friday, July 1, near Pike Street and Chicago Avenue.

Investigators say the driver of the pickup truck did not stop for police and led officers on a pursuit, that ended in a property damage crash at Chicago Avenue
and Denver Avenue.

Officers identified the driver, Travis Smith, 31, of Middlebury.

Investigators say Smith was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. They say he was also found to be driving recklessly during the pursuit.

Smith was arrested and taken to the Elkhart County Jail.
