A new festival is happening in Downtown South Bend.

Mural Mania is the first mural festival in the city. Local artist, Alex Ann Allen, came up with the idea.

Allen recruited artists from across the country, including Indianapolis, Austin, San Francisco, and Los Angeles,  to make five new murals in Downtown South Bend.

She says that she wants to bring people together through art.

The large murals are being created at the South Bend Civic Theater, Hammer & Quill, The Cellar Wine Bar, The Garage Arcade Bar, and Cloud Walking Coffee.

The community is invited to watch the painting process on site, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The mural festival will be finished on Sunday, July 10.

It started on Wednesday, July 6.
