The collision happened just after 3 p.m. on Monday, July 25, on U.S.31 at Business 31 in Miami County.

The preliminary crash investigation revealed a 25-year-old man from Peru was driving a 2015 Dodge Durango westbound on Business U.S.31, trying to turn south on U.S.31. The Durango had a green light and the right of way.

The 27-year-old Niles man on a 1985 Honda CB650 motorcycle was traveling northbound on U.S. 31, approaching a red light at Business U.S. 31. The motorcyclist failed to stop for the red light and continued through the intersection hitting the Dodge in the passenger side.

The man was ejected from the motorcycle. He was flown from the crash scene to the Indianapolis hospital with numerous broken bones.
