Eli Dicken hasn’t said much since the Greenwood Park Mall Shooting. He’s the man from Seymour who shot and killed the shooter, saving the lives of many. His girlfriend, Shay Golden, shared her story in an interview with WISH-TV.

“I hope nobody has to experience what I experienced. It was very traumatic and very raw, and it is not something that anybody deserves to ever go through in life,” said Golden, who’s just 19-years-old.

She and her boyfriend were at the food court when the shooting started.

“The first thing I saw was the gunman coming out the bathroom and that second I saw him come out of the bathroom, I froze. It was like I went numb. I wasn’t able to … nothing came out of me as much as I was trying to say, ‘You know, we are in danger’ or something like that I wasn’t able to…. No words came out of my mouth,” she told WISH-TV.

Golden saw other people running away and screaming and Dicken stood up and started shooting.

“I was scared. I was terrified but I remember just telling myself to remain calm it will be over soon, because within seconds of everything happening … Like that, it felt like eternity in that situation. It felt like it was never going to end.”

Within 15 seconds the shooting stopped. She later saw Dicken in handcuffs because he was being questioned by police.

“When I saw him in handcuffs it made me break down, made me start crying, you know? I was scared.”

The two got to see each other the next day. Golden said it felt like home.

Thank goodness Eli Dicken was there with his firearm and training, to take down this P.O.S. criminal. Eli was truly a hero and save it many lives that day.

This is why our wise founding fathers gave us our Second Amendment rights for this very reason.
