A 17-year-old Dowagiac boy was killed when a tree limb fell on his vehicle.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, on Peavine Street near California Road.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the driver, Landen Taggart, was traveling  westbound when a large tree limb fell on his vehicle.

This limb damaged the cab of the vehicle, spinning the limb in the roadway.

The vehicle then struck another tree on the side of the road. Taggart was found dead at the scene.
